Dryer fires account for multiple deaths every year, and millions of dollars in property damage. We care a great deal about our clients, and we want to make sure you and your family are protected. Unfortunately, we too often see conditions that could lead to a dryer fire on home inspections.

Below are a few simple steps and precautions you can take to help protect your family and your investment. Perhaps keep it as a “to-do” list above your dryer in the laundry room.

  1. Clean the lint trap after EVERY use of the dryer
  2. Check and clean the dryer hose regularly
  3. Clean the inside of the dryer itself (an often forgotten step)
  4. Keep the area around the dryer free and clear
  5. If you have a gas dryer, have a professional check the gas connections and for gas leaks.
